Jim and I spent several hours giving interviews to two different news agencies this evening. Their stories should both run in the next couple of days, and I will definitely link to them if everything goes as planned.
Every time Jim is interviewed, I learn something new. Tonight it was that when he was tapped to go to Vietnam, he knew nothing about the country or the situation. It was very early in the war, and he was completely oblivious. I asked him if he asked questions about why he was there, why the Marines were there. He said he did not. He read about the politics of it several years later, but while he was there he just tried to not get shot.
Both of the reporters we spoke to were genuinely interested in and excited about telling this story, and I very much look forward to reading the articles.
