Unfortunately, Jennifer and her family had to evacuate their house yesterday due to flooding in their basement, and they're staying at her mother's house until tomorrow. The house will be OK. When her husband got off work today, he was going to Shop Vac the basement. But in the meantime, Mary, Rohan, Ofc. Chung, and I met up with them a few blocks from their own house at her mom's.
The kids could not have been more excited by your donations, and even Jennifer found many things she'll be able to wear. There were some professional dresses in there, which she was happy about because she is going to start school as a paralegal.
Jennifer's daughter, Jenna, and her friend, Zahara, found shoes and jackets that fit them, and it was very, very fun to watch all the kids exclaim over another new treasure. All of you donated beautiful items, and I thank you so much for that. I should have taken more pictures of them trying things on, but I was so caught up in the moment that I completely forgot. Special thanks to my neighbor, Martha, for donating a lovey S3 when she found out that Jennifer's old cell phone had died for good.
The cutest moment for me was when Jennifer's six-year-old son asked Ofc. Chung if he could come to his school.
"What do you want me to do at your school?" he asked.
"I want to show you," came the shy, sweet response. He wants to take Ofc. Chung in for show and tell. <3
