Today our friend Jennifer met up with one of our founding members, Kim. You may recall that Jennifer and her family lost everything in a fire a couple of years ago (and were saved by three Columbus police officers who smelled smoke while they were on a traffic stop). They haven't been able to afford to replace all their furniture and have been living without beds for most of the family all this time. When Kim and her daughters heard this, they offered up a set of bunk beds, mattresses, bedding, a TV, a dresser, and a Lazy Boy couch.
Jennifer and her husband went by to get the beds and the TV and will return for the dresser and the couch next week. This is what it's all about, folks! Sharing what you can when you can, and accepting help when you need it.
You should have seen how happy Jennifer's girls were when they heard they were getting beds. Doubly so when they found out they were bunk beds! It was very humbling to observe. I try to be grateful, but even then there are a lot of things I take for granted. One thing I'm not taking for granted: Columbus Division of Police Officer Ed Chung of the 19th Precinct (Hilltop) for introducing us to Jennifer and her family, and Kim and her girls for paying their blessings forward.
