Today, Columbus Division of Police Officer Ed Chung and I met with a couple of the people his work in the Hilltop has touched. One of them, Walter, has completely transformed his life since the day Ofc Chung saved him from dying of a drug overdose.
Walter said that when Ofc Chung revived him, he was initially afraid of being arrested. Once that feeling passed, he just wanted to die. He said that, at the time, he didn't feel his life was worth living. Today, however, he said he is happy to be alive.
Walter credits a lot of his success to having a great support network. He has a lot of people rooting for him. He works a lot of hours, trying to provide for his family. He is a kind and humble man, and when we told him we had a gift card from Kroger for him he was visibly moved and very grateful.
