Our Cops and Barbers event is coming up quickly, and thanks to our premier sponsor, AEP Ohio, we're going to be providing school supplies to 1,000 inner city kids, along with haircuts for boy participants and friendship bracelets for girls.
Today we picked up those school supplies from our friends at Walmart Columbus - Bethel Rd, who have been amazing throughout this whole process. We were stunned to learn that these school supplies amounted to FOUR pallets, each four feet square by eight feet high, but our friends at the Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio came to our rescue and lent us their trailer. How to get all those items on and off the trailer? Fret not, we had Columbus Division of Police volunteers to pitch in at loading and unloading.
What we've experienced with Cops and Barbers is what we've seen throughout the short history of Starfish Assignment: decide to do something good, and great people will come along to help out. Thank you to AEP Ohio, Walmart, the FOP of Ohio, and CPD for making this happen. We're so excited to see the kids, barbers, and officers together on August 18 and 19. Stay tuned for more updates!
