We did it! More than six hundred gift bags made! All of the bags are ready for delivery to Columbus Division of Police precincts across the city. These presents will be handed out by CPD officers to citizens they meet on Christmas Day, and we couldn't be more excited.
Thank you to everyone who came out today, especially the kids, who worked SO hard. They all filled out multiple Christmas cards for the officers who will be working Christmas Day, then they turned their attention to working on the bags. It was really nice to see them so dedicated to their tasks. They definitely earned that break when Andy, of the CPD Therapy Dog Unit, came to visit.
Kelly Maynard of Little Hercules Foundation generously donated 25 Build-A-Bear stuffed animals that the Community Liaison Officers will be able to hand out to children of their choice. She also gave us a bunch of other treats, including some really nice Marvel coloring books, to our little helpers and the CLO's.
Kelly's generosity encapsulates the hallmark of this gift bag project: nice people doing nice things for no reason other than they want to be kind. From the first officer who signed up, to all the sponsors, to all the volunteers--it's been such a wonderful event to part of. Thank you all! 💙
