Annual Backpack Event

Today was our annual backpack stuffing event, and as you can see, we worked hard to fill over 500 bookbags with school supplies! Community volunteers, Columbus Police officers, Franklin County Sheriff's deputies, and Columbus firefighters all came together to ensure each bag was prepared with care and love.

Since 2019, we have partnered with law enforcement, Starfish donors, and the community to donate bookbags full of school supplies, helping thousands of children start their school year right. It always makes us smile to know we're bringing joy to eager students—don't we all remember the excitement of having new school supplies?

The children of "Linden Community & Columbus Ohio Stop the Violence" were crucial to today's success. They did a fantastic job packing the pencil bags with erasers, five pencils, scissors, three glue sticks, and a pencil sharpener, making quick work of the challenging task by setting up an assembly line. Their enthusiasm was so high that we finished packing all the bookbags in record time! They were also thrilled to pick out their own bags, and it was fun to watch them decide which style they wanted to make their own.

A huge thank you to the Cooper Family Foundation and Walmart Supercenter Westpointe Plaza Drive for sponsoring this effort. We're incredibly grateful to spread joy to over 500 children this year, thanks to your generosity. We also extend our gratitude to the officers, deputies, firefighters, and volunteers who made this event possible.

While these bags have already been allocated, if you need school supplies, please refer to this article from the Columbus Dispatch for alternative sources.
