Benjamin and Officer James Poole are back at it again! This latest meeting is another chapter in the wonderful connection they’ve built since meeting last June at the Ohio Special Olympics. Back then, Benjamin raced Officer Poole and left him in the dust.
Fast forward to November, when their “Race of the Decade” was not only a blast but also covered by 10TV, where Benjamin won twice. It was a fantastic event where the CPD Motors Unit and other officers came out to say hello and watch Officer Poole lose those races!
That day, Benjamin and his sister, Precious, got to meet 10TV reporter Lacey Crisp, and she made quite an impression. They both love her and talk about her often. Officer Poole said that Precious especially admires her and lights up whenever she talks about her!
Last week, Officer Poole took coats from our AEP Ohio Coat Drive and bookbags filled with school supplies to Benjamin and Precious. When he found out that Benjamin really loves bookbags, he gave him an extra one! While there, he also spoke with the kids about stranger danger and what to do if they ever find an unattended firearm.
Benjamin has become a huge fan of police officers since meeting Officer Poole. Whenever he’s out, he asks his mom to take him to meet any officers they see. He even keeps a photo of himself with Officer Poole that he loves to look at—it’s so sweet how much their friendship means to him.
The children were told someone special was coming to visit, and they guessed it might be either Officer Poole or Lacey Crisp. How adorable that these wonderful children are looking up to these great people as their heroes! We're hoping to get them all together soon so they can have a picture with all four of them to cherish.
