Our friend, Columbus Division of Police Motorcycle Officer James Poole went to Liberty Elementary and read to all the fifth graders today. Over the past three months, he's read to the entire school. When he left his position as a Community Liaison Officer, he had already done more Books & Badges readings than any other officer at CPD, and he's carried on that tradition at the Motorcycle Unit.
On days when his unit doesn't have other responsibilities, he does a few hours of traffic enforcement, reads to a class or two, then heads back out on the road, where he likes to make sure that everyone drives safely in school zones. He is often recognized by the kids he read to when he's doing that--they wave happily at each other!
