Such a wonderful evening! Thank you to the Columbus Blue Jackets and Jet's Pizza for honoring Columbus Division of Police officers for the hard work they do every day for the community and for the special things they do with us like Cops & Gobblers and Books & Badges.
CBJ player Zach Werenski, whose father is a Michigan police officer, had a Zoom call with officers at the 5 Precinct Community Policing Center today to thank them for their service. They asked if he ever considered becoming a police officer himself and if he'd like to come on a ride along (yes on both). It was a fun call and we hope to meet him in person soon. Unfortunately, he's on Covid protocols so it wasn't possible tonight.
As you can see, Stinger stopped by and was also a big hit!
Jet's Pizza is donating 50 tickets to this Saturday's Blue Jacket's game to Columbus Recreation and Parks Department on behalf of Columbus Division of Police, meaning kids who might otherwise never have been able to see a professional hockey game will now be able to attend one. Every officer we spoke to was excited about this, and it's even more special because this game is First Responders Night at Nationwide Arena.
