Please join us in congratulating Marion Police Lieutenant Ed Brown, this quarter's recipient of the Starfish Assignment Make a Difference Award!
Lieutenant Brown truly embodies what it means to make a difference. His tireless dedication and compassionate leadership have positively impacted countless lives and strengthened the bond between law enforcement and the people of Marion. He is deeply involved in the community through various programs and initiatives, including mentoring, educational outreach, and support for those in need. His contributions through Starfish Assignment, such as the Books & Badges program, organizing readings for fellow officers, volunteering with Special Olympics, participating in Bikes & Badges, and collaborating with organizations like Feed the Kids Columbus and Sahara Columbus, are just a few examples of his commitment.
Lieutenant Brown's commitment to serving others goes above and beyond his official duties. His ability to connect with people through mentorship, education, and community support makes him an exceptional leader. His work perfectly exemplifies Starfish Assignment's mission: to make a difference, one act of kindness at a time.
We were honored to celebrate him today with members of the community, fellow officers, Marion County Sheriff's Office deputies, and Sheriff Matt Bayles.
Lieutenant Brown will be moving to patrol in January, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the Marion Police Department through his successor. A special thanks to everyone who joined us today (and to those who were there in spirit!) for helping us surprise Ed. Also, a huge shout-out to Lieutenant Mark Elliott for helping us organize everything!
