We're getting ready for Cops & Barbers 2021, and we're so excited!! This is the fourth year for this event with Columbus Division of Police. Once again we're working with our amazing sponsor AEP Ohio, and we'll be having events at Columbus Recreation and Parks Department centers in Linden and on the Hilltop. Center managers will reach out to boys and girls registered in their programs, and the boys will receive haircuts and the girls will do art projects with female officers.
All children selected for the events will receive school supplies, and that's what today was about--picking up the supplies from our friends at Walmart Dublin - Britton Pkwy and starting the bag stuffing. We were joined by CPD Lieutenant Lowell Rector, CPD Dispatcher Nicole Mavromatis, and Starfish volunteers Jack Carlin and Mason. Check out these cool supplies! We're in love with the backpacks!
This year's event will be small compared to our 2019 event, when we helped over 1,000 kids at four sites. We hope to be back up to pre-pandemic levels next year, but we are really looking forward to working with 100 children in the Hilltop and 100 in Linden.
