Our Fourth Annual Cops & Gobblers was a beautiful day filled with hugs and fellowship. This event started four years ago with a idea from Columbus Division of Police officers in South Linden, who wanted to give back to the community they love. We've been working with them to bring Thanksgiving cheer to every resident of Rosewind Apartments ever since.
We were joined by members of the Ohio State football team, the FBI - Cincinnati, Dublin Police, Gahanna Division of Police, Columbus Division of Fire, Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, and many sponsors and friends. Together, we all went door to door, reaching more than 200 homes, sharing not just frozen turkeys and sides but also smiles and warm conversations.
A huge thanks to the officers, agents, volunteers, and partners whose tireless efforts made this massive undertaking such a success. A big shoutout to our sponsors - KEMBA Financial Credit Union, American Electric Power - AEP, Byers Airport Subaru, and Walmart Dublin - Britton Pkwy, whose support has been invaluable. (So many of them were right there with us, loading and unloading turkeys and other items!)
The world can be a tough place, and as the saying goes, everyone is struggling with their own battles. That is why we are always grateful to the people who come together to make these events special and to see so many smiles during them. (We're still smiling ourselves.) It truly was a beautiful day, and we're already looking forward to next year!
If you are in need of a Thanksgiving meal, CPD is giving away turkeys and pies at precincts across the city this Friday. Please see their social media for more details. For additional resources, visit findhelp.org
