Our Third Annual Cops & Gobblers event in South Linden is today. We just left Walmart Dublin - Britton Pkwy, where we picked up more than 225 frozen turkeys and sides, including corn, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. We're headed to Douglas Community Center, where we're going to package everything up, and Columbus Division of Police officers will hand them out to every resident of Rosewind Apartments.
Thank you to KEMBA Financial Credit Union, Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, Walmart, and Starfish supporters for making this possible. We appreciate Walmart Managers Victor Lagneaux, Shad Griffin, and the rest of their team, who worked for weeks to get this huge order--five pallets worth!--just right.
This effort focuses on Rosewind because it was started at the request of South Linden officers Joshua Bell and Mike Daymut, who wanted to do something for their patrol area. We leave instructions for the residents who aren't home on how they can claim their dinners. If you need a turkey, CPD is giving away meals at precincts across the city this Monday. Please see their social media for details. You can also search this website for available resources.
We'll have more details on this great event later. For now, let's hope the truck doesn't break down on the way like it did last year.
