Empowering Our Future Leaders

Today, in partnership with our amazing friends at Walmart Columbus - West Pointe Plaza, we had the privilege of providing a bicycle to a dedicated high school senior, Darryl, who will be traveling to The Ohio State University to take college-level classes.

Darryl's story came to us through Columbus Division of Police Officer Yoonus Khan, who has been a mentor to him. Officer Khan first met Darryl during his community immersion project, where he helped coach the wrestling team at South High School. There, Darryl stood out for his hard work and determination, winning his weight class's city-wide tournament and moving on to districts. This young man is focused on success, and as Darryl embarks on this new academic journey, having reliable transportation is crucial. His old bike has broken down multiple times and isn’t fit to get him through the coming winter, so we’re thrilled to help make sure he can continue pursuing his dreams of becoming a surgeon without worry.

A huge thank you to Walmart for their generous support and for instantly wanting to be involved. Also, thank you to Officer Khan for bringing this situation to our attention. All of us are so excited to play a part in helping Darryl continue his journey toward success.

If you would like to offer additional support to Darryl, please consider donating through our website. He is diligently saving for a car so weather won't impact his journey as much.
