New Board Member: Mario Dovell

We're honored to announce that Mario Dovell has agreed to join the Starfish Assignment Board of Directors as an Executive Vice-President. Mario is currently the Center Manager of Milo and Beatty Community Centers, but will assume the manager's position at the new Linden recreation center when Columbus Recreation and Parks Department opens their state-of-art facility later this year. This center will surely change the face of the area, especially when it is helmed by such a dynamic and involved leader as Mario.

We met Mario when he was the Center Manager at Adams Recreation Center and Columbus Division of Police 7 Precinct Community Liaison Officer Tony Rogers introduced us to him. Together they work hard to improve the lives of the community they serve. In fact, last year CME Federal Credit Union declared them to be "Hometown Heroes" for doing just that.

Mario has been very involved with Starfish since we met him, coming to volunteer at all of our large events. In fact, one of our Cops and Barbers 2019 events was held at Adams (his organizational skills became legendary then), and he was also the guest speaker at our September 2019 Starfish meeting.

Mario says his "why" is his servant's heart. He wants to enhance lives through recreation--building better communities and ultimately inspiring our youth in a positive way.

Please see our website for Mario's full biography and for the rest of our Starfish board members. We're very excited to have him aboard!
