Preparing for the Six Annual Coat Drive

What an extraordinary day of warmth and community spirit at the Sixth Annual Starfish Assignment/AEP Ohio Coat Drive! In a remarkable display of teamwork, we witnessed dozens of dedicated individuals from Columbus Division of Police, Dublin Police, Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Gahanna Police, and AEP Ohio come together to prepare nearly 700 brand new Macy's coats for children across the city.

A special shoutout to the dynamic team of FCSO deputies who helped us move the coats from Starfish Headquarters so quickly they put us an hour ahead of schedule! Their efficiency was so remarkable that by the time additional volunteers arrived, the coats were almost all organized by size!

We were thrilled to see friends from Gahanna, Dublin, and a variety of CPD's units, including SWAT, K-9, Dive, and Helicopter. Their participation accelerated our efforts to such an extent that we wrapped up before even breaking for lunch! This is a testament to the incredible dedication and motivation of everyone involved.

Our day was brightened even more by delicious pizza from our generous friends at Minnelli's (thank you!). It was a beautiful day not just about giving back, but about rekindling old friendships and establishing new ones.

These coats will be distributed by officers across the city, bringing warmth to those they've met during the course of their duties. Unfortunately, this means that these coats have been pre-allocated and are not available upon request. However, if you or someone you know is in need of a coat or any other form of assistance, we encourage you to visit findhelp.org for support.

Stay tuned for a future post where we'll share the joy of the coat distribution. Thank you to everyone who helped make today a success--AEP Ohio, Macy's, our partner agencies, our volunteers, and Minelli's. Your involvement and support continue to make huge differences in our community!
