Join us on the Books & Badges Facebook page live at noon on Monday, August 17 as we welcome our first reader from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Deputy DeMarco Marable. We're thrilled to have him. Dep Marable has been in law enforcement for just over seven years and with the FCSO for slightly more than two years. We asked him to tell everyone about himself so we could all get to know him a bit better:
"I am currently assigned to the Support Services Division in the Community Relations Unit, since February of this year. I am originally from Dayton, OH and I have lived in Columbus for 5 years. I am happily married with a 3-year-old daughter (soon to be 4) and a 10-yea- old poodle. My family and I love to travel, read, and watch movies together. On my off time, I really like to volunteer my time. I am part of several organizations but I am most proud of being a “big brother” for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio. I have been a “Big” for almost 2 years now and I get a lot of fulfillment being a positive influence in my 13-year-old “Little’s” life.
"Not a lot of people can say they get paid to do their life’s passion and I can honestly say that I do. Since I was about 19-years-old in college, I realized that serving my community, being a positive influencer, and volunteering my time is what drives me. I literally do all three in my current role and in my personal life daily and I could not be happier."
Please join us for storytime on Monday, when you and your children will have a chance to "meet" this remarkable deputy yourselves.
