We’re thrilled to announce that Columbus Division of Police Officer James Poole has joined the Starfish Assignment advisory board!
Officer Poole has been a part of our journey since December 2018, and he’s made an unforgettable impact on our programs, especially Books & Badges. As the officer who has read to more students than anyone else, his enthusiasm for connecting with kids and fostering positive relationships shines in every story he shares. Even in his current role with the CPD Motors Unit, he goes above and beyond to organize school-wide readings, and he is looking forward to continuing those efforts with his fellow officers, federal agencies, and other local departments.
Officer Poole is deeply invested in his community in many other ways. He is a dedicated member of his church community, and in 2022, he biked across the country with his son, Jonah, to raise money for First Responders’ Bridge. He’s also an active supporter of Starfish's partnership with Special Olympics Ohio, where he cheers on and races against his friend, Special Olympics Athlete Benjamin Russell (who’s beaten him three times!).
We’ve seen his heart in action countless times, from helping stranded families to facilitating Christmas miracles to creating meaningful connections with everyone he meets. Officer Poole has been a cherished part of Starfish for years, and we’re so excited to officially welcome him to this new role.
Please join us in welcoming Officer Poole to the Starfish leadership team!
