We're thrilled to announce our partnership with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. They are SO much fun to work with, and we have great things planned. They picked up their books on Friday, and Officer Sydnee Brown already did a reading to some very happy first graders at Madison Plains Elementary School.
In the press release announcing our partnership, Governor Mike DeWine said, “Regularly reading with adults is so very important for children as they grow. Our Natural Resources Officers are excited for the opportunity to create positive relationships with youth while helping them develop an appreciation for reading.”
ODNR Director Mary Mertz said, “We are always looking for fun ways to promote childhood literacy and connect our officers with the communities they serve. Natural Resources Officers have so much to offer beyond their daily patrols. This program enables them to step into the classroom, teach kids how to make good choices, and inspire them to pick up a good book.”
There's more cool stuff in the press release, and we were so excited to read it. Check it out for yourself!
Please welcome ODNR to the Starfish family. We're so happy to be working with them!
